[6] She insisted on developing a fresh project with Bhatt playing the lead. She began writing the script for Bombay Begums with the intention of turning it into a television series, but she was unable to secure the necessary producers. Following the 2017 debut of Lipstick Under My Burkha, Chernin Entertainment of Los Angeles expressed interest in Bombay Begums, and Netflix quickly joined the project. Bombay Begums centres on ladies who, like her earlier films Lipstick Under My Burkha and Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, are

Filming

The series’ main filming began in late 2019 and was finished in March 2020, a few weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in India. [2] The group started post-production work in July 2020, and it was finished in just two months.
