Cristiano Ronaldo, a Portuguese legend and former Manchester United player, has been penalised by the Football Association (FA) with a two-game suspension and a hefty £50,000 fine for knocking a fan’s phone out of their hand in Everton earlier this year. Manchester United was defeated in that game by a score of 1-0.
The 37-year-old is currently a free agent after Manchester United announced on Tuesday that he had been released from the contract. On April 9 of this year, after his team lost to Everton at Goodison Park, he got into a fight.
He was warned by Merseyside Police, according to Sky Sports. FA has also charged him with improper behaviour. An unbiased panel assessed the fine and suspension for him.
The star striker acknowledged that his actions were inappropriate. The suspension will be carried over anytime the star striker joins a club, regardless of the country, and will not apply during the World Cup.
It is never simple to cope with emotions in trying times like the one we are facing, Ronaldo wrote in an Instagram apology after the incident.
However, we must always show patience, respect, and lead by example for all the young people who enjoy the beautiful game.

As a gesture of fair play and sportsmanship, I would like to apologise for my outburst and, if it is possible, invite this fan to watch a game at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo acknowledged the FA’s accusation in order to avoid a suspension, but he requested a private hearing.
When Ronaldo approached the Everton tunnel where there were gathered fans, he said he had a “genuine worry… for his own personal safety and well-being and leaving the field of play.” Ronaldo made this statement during the independent hearing on November 8.
The panel rejected him, noting that the act was motivated more by rage and frustration than by concern for his safety.
The panel also denied the FA’s request to suspend Ronaldo for three games.
